8 modern design ideas for a small bedroom

Interior specialists usually have to work on the design of a small bedroom with an approximate area of 12 meters or slightly more than large rooms. This is due to the fact that, in fact, the room for sleep does not need huge areas. And in normal city apartments, the size of the space allocated for bedrooms is usually very limited. Large rooms for sleep are typical for private homes rather than city apartments. When creating the design of a small bedroom, interior specialists, first of all, have to deal with the rational use of available space. Therefore, in such projects you can often see attached balconies, built-in wardrobes, tables instead of window sills.

In today's publication we present you a selection of 10 modern design ideas for a small bedroom, which help improve the functionality of a small room, fill it with coziness and creative solutions.

1. Joining the loggia and balcony

One of the most obvious ways to increase the size of a small bedroom is to add a balcony, if one is available. In place of the former loggia, mini cabins, small sitting areas and winter gardens are most often created. However, the question of joining a balcony is always associated with passing a complex approval procedure. You may have to keep the window sill unit with radiators or go for a little trick by installing transparent sliding partitions between the bedroom and balcony. In the small bedroom design in the photo above, the sill unit is used as a desktop.

Such a minimalistic office fits perfectly into the concept of a modern room.

2. Built-in designs and niches in the design of the small bedroom

The design of the small bedroom in the photo above, in the niche formed by white cabinets, neatly inscribed minimalist black piano. This technique also saves square meters well. Thanks to it, the room is able to organize a small area for music, without sacrificing a job or cabinets.

3.Window sill area use

Interior designers have long noticed that window sills take up too much space. If you use their area under a desk or a soft bench, the general functionality of the room will benefit from it. A sofa in the place of a window sill is usually in high demand among romanticists who like to read books, enjoying the scenery that opens from the window. Inside such a bench you can arrange spacious boxes for storage of sleeping linen, blankets and plaids.

4. Eclecticism in a small bedroom interior.

Of course, the design of the small bedroom is very limited by its size. It is unlikely that you will be able to fill a room of 12 square meters with such elements of classics as columns, stucco, portraits in lush gilded baguettes, while not burdening the space.

However, it is also possible to apply neoclassical or empire motifs in a small room. In the design of the bedroom in the photo above a modern interpretation of the classics is harmoniously combined with elements of the loft style, presented here by brickwork in the headboard. The result of this union is an eclectic design project, which is remembered for its mix of nobility and respectability of neoclassics on the one hand, and loft charisma and freedom-loving on the other.

5. Design of a small bedroom in neoclassical style

Designers often choose neoclassics for the interiors of small bedrooms. The design project in the photo above was no exception. A moulded cornice, white moldings, a crystal chandelier, a large beige carpet and a neutral palette, which combines creamy shades with the tones of milk chocolate - all these elements make up a cozy interior. The design of the small bedroom in the photo does not create a sense of intimacy thanks to the use of light shades and the presence of a high window with a white curtain that gently diffuses the penetrating sunlight.

6. Turquoise shades in design of a small bedroom.

As you may have already noticed, the design of a small bedroom tends to contain beige and white tones. The choice for such a light base is due to the limited space available. Beige tones visually slightly enlarge the room, filling it with air and light. However, the light monochrome itself can make the space too cool and sometimes boring. Therefore, most often beige palette is diluted with some bright accents. The design of the bedroom shown in the photo, just shows an example of mixing light tones with the turquoise palette. Shades of turquoise have been actively used as accents for many years.  In a light interior turquoise shades can be combined with brighter tones.

7. Beige palette and chocolate accents in the design of the small bedroom.

One of the most win-win solutions for designing a small bedroom is the beige-brown palette. Light creamy, creamy tones, shades of melted milk in combination with coffee and chocolate form a very comfortable and cozy space. This solution is very neutral, it does not have an active impact on the psyche, and therefore promotes rest and relaxation.

In the design of this bedroom of small size beige and chocolate range perfectly fulfills the task of creating a harmonious, close to nature space. Mirrorful surface, weaving in the headboard of the bed, twigs of wood in a vase - for a composition that relies on eco motives and minimalism, a combination of shade of beige and coffee palette is the most optimal coloristic solution.

8. Dark green shades in the design of the small bedroom.

The design of this neoclassical bedroom with vintage furniture uses green accents that seem more vivid against a background of beige tones.  In this design project, green in combination with indoor plants and flower bouquet brings with it the harmony typical of natural landscapes.
